Reflection

With the amount of media I consume, I use media a lot in just a day. This impacts my life because of how certain things on the media being shown is influencing me and my decisions in my life. During this semester, I have started to become more aware of the techniques advertisers are using when they are showing their audience, including me, their new ideas or products. For example, whenever ads pop up or when I see signs hung up on the windows of shopping areas, I see what the advertisers are trying to sell for what reasons and catch any false advertising. Throughout this semester, being able to do these blogs/journals on media was surprisingly fun and interesting. I thought that reading other people’s insight on media and advertising was good for me because I got to learn things from others in my class and I also was able to better understand things we learned in class. I also like these journals because I really liked doing the free posts. I was able to do my own observations and I li

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

- Free Choice - Whenever I went on Disney+, I always scrolled passed this show because it looked weird and boring to me and think because it was over a past or old series. Recently, I finally gave it a chance, so I watched the first episode. As soon the first few minutes or so played, I became more interested into the show. Surprisingly. A reason why I liked this series was because it included young actors and actresses I knew about and it's setup and "recording style" I guess you can say, was unique and different to me. It kind of reminded me of the backstage of shows if that makes any sense? I also like how they involve the love story in a different way and also find a way to ease it into their school play.  I just hate how each episode is short to me and that means I will finish the season faster! I don't think it's a series everyone would like, but I recommend others to watch this series because it's better than I thought it would be.

Miss Representation

In Miss Representation, it talked about how women or girls see certain things on social media and that they begin to feel the pressure towards them to meet mens ideals. Also, seeing that there's a certain way women should look like or there's a such thing of a perfect women, girls that don't dress how women should look like, they are seen as different. Because of this, they feel forced to put so much time and effort in themselves to look nice just so they can fit in with anyone else. I feel like I can connect to this because many times in my life, I know how it feels to "look" different because of how I dress. I also can relate to this because I was not happy with how I looked like and I tried so hard to look nice everyday just so I don't get made fun of or I could at least look decent looking. To this day, I sometimes catch myself trying hard to look nice so I can be noticed by others and I feel like I do this because I don't want to feel like people are

Knives Out

Image
- Free Choice - Recently, I got to go to the movies to watch Knives Out. Honestly, when I went to the movies I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that it was sort of similar with the game Clues. In the beginning, it was sort of boring because it went over a lot if background. As soon as they brought in the characters, I found it interesting on how each characters personality is very different and how it stays important throughout the movie. The most important and interesting thing in the movie in my opinion was the number of plot twists happening. All of them were exciting rather than boring. With these plot twists, it wasn't just me watching the movie, but I was actually trying think and at times almost yell out my guesses. To me, I thought it was a good movie because things happened unexpectedly and I think that's good because I don't think it's much fun watching something and being able predict what happens next almost every scene. Also, it is considere

Bazzi - Dreams

Image
- Free Choice - I watch a lot of music videos for inspiration because I like to edit and make my own videos. Bazzi, an  American singer, rapper, song writer, and record producer, caught my eye on his music videos and not necessarily the lyrics of his songs. A lot of times, many music videos from other artists have a number of similarities. As for Bazzi, his videos to me seem to be uncommon and I think that's what separates him from other songwriters. I'm not really sure why, but his music video called "Dreams", reminded me of surreal art or surrealism and I thought that was interesting and made his video stand out to me. I also thought it was "weird" because of it's editing style. It was odd, but in a cool way. It also showed different types of art and color making this another reason why this music video was interesting.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-0yVxcb__M
